Session #1 will discuss and engage you in Financial wellbeing for freelancers and small business owners. From pricing your services and paying yourself first, to spending with power and making rewarding financial promises to yourself.
Session #2 will guide you through the legal things you should consider for your business. What does copyright mean? What is IP? What business legal structure should I choose? In this session you will learn how to set up your business legally, and how to protect your business – Plus the opportunity to ask a lawyer any specific questions you may have.

About the Speakers

Talia Loderick
Talia Loderick is a Money Coach, based in Cardiff. She calls her money coaching practice TLC because when she realised the acronym for Tender Loving Care also stands for Talia Loderick Coaching she almost swooned with joy. Because who doesn’t need a dose of TLC from time to time? Rhetorical question – we all do.
Talia offers one-to-one coaching helping women understand their emotions and beliefs around money so they can improve their behaviour with money, feel better and be better with money. Talia also delivers financial education workshops to 11-19-year-olds, helping young people build lifelong money-management skills.
Dan Dowen
Dan Dowen is a Senior Associate Solicitor at Berry Smith and heads up the Commercial and IP Team.
Dan has significant experience in advising on all aspects of Commercial law and works closely with both UK and international clients on high-value commercial contracts.
Dan has particular experience and expertise in drafting and/or advising on contracts relating to; supply, distribution, development, manufacturing, licensing, confidentiality, data protection/ privacy, intellectual property protection and terms and conditions of business.
He has previously been listed in the 35 young lawyers and accountants to watch out for in Wales and has been praised for his ‘ability to assess a client’s commercial needs, identify potential risks, act swiftly and provide pragmatic advice’ which has resulted in ‘his loyal and growing client base’.

Sarah Alford
Sarah Alford is a Partner who heads up the Employment and HR Team.
Sarah has considerable experience in all Employment Law matters – both contentious and non-contentious. Sarah also holds a Master’s in Business Administration and has a vast amount of experience and expertise in working with CEOs, HR Directors, Finance Directors and their colleagues to deliver pragmatic, commercial solutions to their employment law and people-related challenges. Her clients range from senior executives of FTSE 100 listed companies, public sector organisations to PLCs.
Sarah advises on all Employment Law aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing, insolvency and business reorganisations (including changes to terms and collective redundancies).
She is the retained HR and employment law adviser to a range of businesses and advises on complex internal dispute resolution; senior executive terminations and sensitive discrimination matters. She represents many local businesses and senior employees in all forms of employment tribunal litigation, including constructive and unfair dismissal, whistle-blowing, discrimination and breach of contract claims.
Sarah is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and regularly speaks and provides training on a range of Employment Law topics.
